Chinese Cupping

The ancient art of cupping has been around for 5000 years.  Invented some say before acupuncture, this is an original therapy for helping to alleviate a vast range of modern dysfunctions of the body.
Cupping is a traditional therapy that remains favoured by millions of people throughout the world because it is a time-honoured, safe, comfortable and effective treatment for many health disorders.
Cupping is usually performed by introducing heat into a glass cup or similar object and placing it immediately to the skin. The vacuum created produces a suction effect, which increases blood circulation to the local area, relaxes muscle tissue and releases pain causing factors.
Traditional practice and experience recognizes the ability of cupping to move vital energy and correct internal imbalances, as well as clearing the effects of external injury and climatic influences, such as wind and cold. It can treat common problems as arthritis, rheumatism, abdominal pain and bruises
This method literally sucks out excess moisture, chills, dampness, and leaked blood from the areas treated.
What can cupping help with?
Back pain (both upper and lower back)
Including sciatica, lumbago, spondylosis and osteoporosis
Neck and shoulder pain
Any muscular or joint pain (including repetitive strain injuries)
Coughing and lung disorders
Abdominal pain

Anaemia

Asthma
Constipation
Fevers
Hypertension
Muscular and joint pain
Tiredness/lethargy
Cellulite
How are the cups applied?
Each cup has a robust valve attached to its top.  We apply a trigger pump to the valve and by squeezing a handle we suck the air out from the cup.  This creates a vacuum inside the cup.  With this method of operation, we have absolute control over the amount of strength of suction which is why our cups can also be used on children and the elderly
How does cupping affect the body?
Effects upon the skin
The direct stimuli encourages expansion of blood vessels causing increasing blood circulation and a rise in skin temperature. This promotes metabolism within the skin tissue, better functioning of sweat and sebaceous glands and of cutaneous respiration and improves supply of nutrition to the tissues.  Cupping encourages the withdrawal of stagnant blood and the removal of poisonous substances from the surface of the skin .
Effects upon muscles
A response is activated in the subcutaneous blood vessels.  Blood vessels expand in the muscles which facilitate the flow of blood which has a remarkable effects of soft tissues aches and pains removing congested blood.  Cupping also facilitates the flow of lymph thus, clearing and cleaning soft tissue.
Effects upon the joints
Chronic Joint Rheumatism is one of the conditions for which ‘cupping therapy’ is effective.  Concentrate the treatment around the joint.  Blood flows better through the joint and there is an increased activity and secretion of synovial fluid.
Effects upon digestive organs
People can feel hungry after cupping in the stomach region.  The low pressure pulling power of the cups stimulates the insides of the organs, their movement and secretion of digestive fluids and therefore strengthens digestions and absorption as well as helping to move l the bowels.
While cupping is an extremely effective treatment for colds, flu, for a wide variety of muscle strain injuries and for drawing out toxins, it does tend to leave large areas of bruising and depending on the severity of the injury can be uncomfortable for the patient.
These bruises are not dangerous and disappear in a few days.
