HISTORY OF SIFU ALLAN MURPHY

It all began in 1990 when I was looking around for a sport for my son who was 7 at the time. He was a shy boy at the time and I thought that Kung Fu training would bring him out of this. At the time I was 40 years old and started with World Budo Kai at the Epping Dojo.

I was impressed with the way that Sifu Wayne Short head of the World Budo Kai in Australia was training my son.

Sifu Short convinced me to join in the exercise program as my son was very shy and would not join in without my participation in the class. Over a period of 5 years I found the exercises and forms quite easy to master, my son still enjoyed the forms, self defense and camaraderie of the fellow students.

After I obtained my black belt/ yellow sash I took over the class in Thomastown on a Thursday night. Sifu Short has since moved to England, but the World Budo Kai is alive and well in Australia and has been for the last 3years in the Thomastown Dojo.

HISTORY OF SEAN ROBERTS

My martial arts training commenced in 1978 in Judo as an 8yr old child. This continued for 2yrs.

Shorin Ryu Karate was introduced to me through a cousin in 1982, when I was at the age of 14yrs. I found the training under Sensei John Crebbin gave me tremendous insight into the physical and mental strength that comes with the studying of martial arts. I trained in this style for approximately 4.5yrs.

After a hiatus of 4 – 5 yrs and relocating to Melbourne, I sought out a style of martial arts that would appeal to me. This being Ju Jitsu and World Budo Kai being the club. I commenced training under Renshi Angela Short and on her return back to England with her husband Si-Gung Wayne Short, I continued under the tutelage of Sensei / Di Sifu Leon King, achieving my 1st kyu black on the 20th June 2000.

The main attraction for me with World Budo Kai is the availability and encouragement to partake in the opportunity of cross training. With this in mind I began training in Shaolin Kung Fu and Bo Jutsu in 1998. Once again Sensei / Di Sifu Leon King is my instructor.

Apart from the physical side towards training we also work towards understanding the human body and how it functions anatomically and physiologically which in turn points towards the study of eastern healing. This is the path that I want to pursue.

My future with World Budo Kai will be enriched by fully understanding my emotional, mental, and physical being. This will be an exciting and fulfilling stage as I impart this knowledge onto present and future students.
